Chef Omar Flores was introduced into the culinary world at a very young age. A Culinary Institute of America graduate, Chef Flores opened Driftwood in 2012 in the Bishops Arts District of Dallas, Texas. Driftwood received countless accolades and praises in the first year of their opening. Chef Flores’ newest endeavor is Casa Rubia, located in Trinity Groves at the base of the new Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in West Dallas, specializing in Spanish cuisine. Casa Rubia was nominated by the James Beard Foundation for ‘Best New Restaurant’ in 2014 as well as Texas Monthly ‘Top Ten Best New Restaurants’ in 2014. Casa Rubia received a Four Star Review from the Dallas Morning News as well as most recently being chosen as one of the ‘Best Restaurants in the South’ by Southern Living Magazine. Chef Flores has been a ‘Food & Wine Best New Chef’ semi-finalist in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and a James Beard Foundation, Best Chef – Southwest finalist in 2015.
